The purpose of this questionnaire is to obtain information about you and your family to be able to best match you with the puppy that will best suit your desires, experience, and needs. My intent is to place Tin Roof ACD puppies in their forever homes. I want you to succeed and be ecstatic with your ACD.
*Please research the breed, it’s purpose, and function. Instinctual breed specific behavior is a permanent part of the dog. If you are not prepared for a dog that nips, and being able to discourage appropriately the behaviors we cannot allow in "city" life. This is not a breed for everyone, and it may not be the breed for you. It is not an easy breed that can be left to its own devices in the backyard, you must properly socialize, and introduce the dog to anything and everything you want it to be comfortable with in life later on. It is a lot of dedication, work, time, and 12-17 year commitment. The breed standard explains the purpose of the breed and how it has been fine tuned for a specific job. This leads to the breed traits you will see in a “heeler”. You need to understand that there is a lot more to the ACD than appearance. *It is mandatory to properly socialize, train, and plan a schedule for the puppy to be managed & taught properly in your environment. Please know that as a breed preservationist, and code of ethics breeder, I am here for you for the duration. Once you get a Tin Roof Puppy you are part of my family. If you have questions; I am here for you. If you need help; I am here to support you. If you for whatever reason cannot keep your puppy/dog at any time in it's life; I will take the dog back.
Please look into the health testing of the parents and the past generations in the pedigree of your future dog. ACD's can have genetic conditions that can affect their eyes, and other issues affecting their overall health and longevity. Invest upfront when purchasing your puppy to know you will not be dealing with heart ache or bankruptcy from surgical procedures or other vet bills. At Tin Roof ACDs it is of utmost importance to me to produce as healthy and well adjusted puppy that I can. I want to thank you for choosing Tin Roof ACDs as your breeder, and on your decision to invest in a purebred Australian Cattle Dog (ACD)! The Tin Roof breeding program, invests copious amounts into health testing of the parents. screening for genetic diseases and not reproducing dogs with these issues is of utmost importance to me. The required and recommended health testing has been conducted on the parents of our puppies . The Tin Roof policy is to do our best to produce puppies that are within the breed standard in type, temperament and ability. We do our best to provide our customers with dogs that will have the best possibility of living long, sound, and healthy lives. I carefully analyze the health testing results, genetics, pedigrees and structural qualities of each potential parent prior to breeding. I pride myself on pairing our customers with a puppy that will best suit their desires. It is not advised to choose a puppy based on its appearance alone. I will be narrowing down the options of which puppies in the litter will be best for your plans and experience level. If I let you choose the wildest puppy in the lot based on it's facial markings, and that puppy chews a hole in your wall. You will wish you took home the calm one instead. I focus on each breeding to be a improvement to the program, and the breed. The genetics are very important! Healthy dogs make happy families. I hope to have the opportunity to match you with your next furry family member to create many years of pawprints on your heart.
Please answer the questions honestly. There are no right or wrong answers.
